Arson Suspected In Princeton Car Fire

Police found a car completely engulfed in flames on Wilkinson Way last week.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton police are investigating an incident of suspected arson that took place last week. Police responded to Wilkinson Way at about 10:56 p.m. on May 25 for a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, police discovered that the car was engulfed in flames. Police believe the fire was suspicious in nature.

Also reported as part of the police log released on Tuesday:

A John Deere leaf blower worth $180 was stolen from the rear yard of a work site on the 400 block of Quaker Road sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on May 11.

Lawrence Stackhouse, 59, of Trenton, was arrested on multiple active warrants following a pedestrian stop for illegal use of a bicycle on the 100 block of Nassau Street on May 23 at 9:59 a.m. He was arrested on active warrants out of the Ewing Municipal Court for $800, Franklin Township Municipal Court for $100 and Hamilton Township Municipal Court for $33. Stackhouse was unable to post bail and turned over to the Ewing Police Department.

Diane Luizza, 60, of Princeton, was arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicating narcotic following an accident on the 100 block of River Road on May 24 at 8:08 a.m. She was taken to police headquarters, where she was processed and released with several motor vehicle summonses and a pending court date.

Andre Bennett, 45, of Trenton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for an NCIC warrant on the 200 block of Washington Road on May 28 at 1:07 a.m. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was issued several summonses and a pending court date before being released to a sober adult.

The window of a car that was parked in the Hulfish Street Parking Garage was broken sometime between 7:30 p.m. on May 25 and 5:15 p.m. on May 26. The car was parked in the corner of the lower level. The replacement cost is unknown.

A woman told police that she left her purse and shoes unattended in a cubby while attending a yoga class on the 100 block of Witherspoon Street at 9 a.m. When she went to retrieve her belongings at 10:20 a.m., she noticed that her purse was in a different cubby hole. Upon further inspection, she determined that $150 cash was missing from her purse. There are no suspects at this time.

Loren Whitaker, 25, of Highland Park, was arrested on two outstanding warrants following a report of a suspicious person on the 100 block of Tyson Lane on May 25 at 7:02 p.m. Whitaker was wanted on a $500 warrant from Union Township Municipal Court and a $120 warrant out of Franklin Township Municipal Court. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and released on his own recognizance by both courts.
