Police Seek Van Driver After Deadly Mercer Co. Crash

Police say the driver of the van forced a Trans Am across the median, where it struck several vehicles headed the other way.

ROBBINSVILLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police on Tuesday were searching for the driver of a white van they say caused a Mercer County crash that killed one person and injured several others.

Police in Robbinsville Township say the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

They say a white, GMC Savana work van traveling south on Rt. 130 caused a Pontiac Trans Am to cross the median near Woodside Road, slamming into vehicles traveling in the other direction.

The driver of the van fled the scene, police said, and it was found Tuesday morning in Langhorne, PA, in Bucks County. The driver had not been found as of early Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the Trans Am, Vincent Zitani, 23, of Yardville, N.J. was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man who was driving a Hyundai Elantra remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, as did most of the six occupants of a Toyota Highlander, police said. Riding in that vehicle were parents, grandparents, a teen daughter and a family friend.

The teen girl was airlifted to RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.
