Trenton Standoff Ends: Shooter Surrenders, Fatal Victim ID'd, 3 Cops Shot
SWAT teams and police had a barricaded man in a New Jersey house, law enforcement authorities said. Nearby homes were evacuated.
TRENTON, NJ — A 36-hour police standoff ended Thursday after a bystander was killed and a barricaded man surrendered outside a Trenton house. Three law enforcement officers were shot in the gunfire, authorities say, but they're expected to recover.
NBC10 reported that the shooter as Tyleeb Reese, 35, of Trenton, surrendered to police around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. No further information was available at press time.

Various news outlets reported that shots could be heard overnight. The man who was shot and killed Wednesday morning on Centre Street in Trenton has been identified as Robert Powell Jr., 56, of Lamberton Street, Trenton, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

6abc reported that authorities were attempting to communicate with Reese on Thursday morning at sunrise.

The situation started around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when police were shot at from a second-story window in Trenton, according to News12. Police reportedly entered the house at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

SWAT teams were reportedly on a "speaker" telling the suspect to come to a window on the 30o block of Centre Street, just blocks from the Statehouse, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
The bystander was reportedly shot and killed after the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Regional Task Force approached the location to serve a warrant to a fugitive from justice, according to the MCPO. A second person remained in the home, and two officers were hurt as they entered the home and exchanged gunfire. Their injuries were described as minor.
