Since Josué Rivera-Olds ‘03 graduated from Princeton Academy, he’s been pursuing his passions of exploration and education from here on the East Coast all the way to Brazil.
Josué, now 26, went on to graduate from Earlham College in 2011 and teach eighth graders in Washington D.C. A year later, he moved to Rio de Janeiro with his wife Molly where he taught English and worked at the US Consulate General.
Now, with a desire to provide information to those without access to it, he is pursing a master’s degree in Librarian and Information Science as a full time graduate student at the University of Washington. And come June, he and his wife will be back in Washington D.C. once again.

“At this point in my life I want to continue being intellectually stimulated, helping out others in whatever capacity I can and I seek to constantly grow as an individual,” explained Josué.
Josué recently returned to his alma mater to visit Headmaster Olen Kalkus, catch up with teachers and take a tour through the new renovations. Throughout his accomplishments, travels and endeavors, Josué still remembers vividly the lessons and experiences from his two years at Princeton Academy. Despite only attending for the seventh and eighth grades, he pointed out his time here helped shape him into who he is today.

“As an adult I am continually see the positive impact everyone played not only in my education but also in my character as a person,” said Josué. “I would definitely have to say the mentorship I found at the school at such a young age was invaluable.”
When asked about his fondest memories at the School, Josué recalled the “epic” basketball games held in the former chapel area.
“When the players and coaches stepped inside the basketball court, I don’t think they had realized they would be praying every time they took a free throw,” he added. “Their facial expressions were priceless.”
