Princeton Appoints New Human Services Director

Rhodalynn Jones will fill one of the "many critically important positions" in the municipality, Mayor Mark Freda said.

PRINCETON, NJ — Rhodalynn Jones has been selected as the new Human Services Director in Princeton, the Township announced Thursday. Jones will replace Melissa Urias who resigned July 13 after five years of service.

Jones worked as Outreach Coordinator for Corner House since 2014, first on a full-time basis and then part-time after accepting a full-time position with the New Jersey Department of Health, Division of HIV, STD & TB Services. Prior to that, she worked with Homefront as a program assistant for homelessness prevention.

“I am very excited to have Ro join us,” Mayor Mark Freda told Patch “Her experience at the NJ Department of Health and her experience as an Outreach Coordinator at Corner House will serve our community well,” he said.

Freda said that many “high-quality" candidates applied for the position.

"This is one of many critically important positions we have within the municipality that directly impact our residents. Ms. Jones has big shoes to fill; but she will fill them,” he said.

Recently Council voted to introduce an ordinance abolishing the Local Assistance Board. The decision was taken during the July 26 meeting held after Urias resigned.

Jones graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work & Health Administration from Rider University, and earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from Liberty University.

Her official start date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7.
