Princeton Cleanup Almost Complete As New Storm Approaches

PSE&G and the cable company continue to work in a few areas after last week's storm virtually shut down Princeton.

PRINCETON, NJ — PSE&G and the cable company continue to work in Princeton following a nor’easter that struck New Jersey last week and virtually shut down Princeton, even as a new storm is expected to hit Monday afternoon. Work continues in the following areas, according to the Princeton Police Department:

  • Jefferson Road between Henry Avenue and Moore Street;
  • The intersection of Park Place and Madison Street;
  • On Castle Howard there is a tree down blocking the circle; and
  • Clover lane still has a cable wire down.

All of the main roadways are open and all of the traffic lights are operational. These should be the last of the problem areas in town, according to the Princeton Police Department. Just shy of a week after the storm hit, the Princeton Police Department’s 4th Squad was able to pick up all of the barricades and cones that were deployed due to the recent storm except for the areas in which PSE&G or the cable company are still working.

“Residents are now in the time frame where summonses can be issued for uncleared walkways and sidewalks,” the police department said in an alert Monday morning. “Thank you for driving with care while numerous detours and safety hazards were on the roads.”

More bad weather appears to be on the way, though. Princeton is among a number of towns in Central Jersey, the Jersey Shore and North Jersey that are under a winter weather advisory. Light rain or snow is expected to develop Monday afternoon. The storm then is supposed to become all snow later Monday evening and overnight. Much of the state is expected to see 2-4 inches of snow.
