Princeton Councilman Patrick Simon Considering Run for Mayor: Report

Simon may challenge Liz Lempert in the Democratic Primary.

Princeton Councilman Patrick Simon is considering running for mayor, but has not made a final decision, the Princeton Packet reports.

Mayor Liz Lempert previously announced she would run for re-election.

Lempert and Simon are both Democrats, so a decision to run by Simon would set up a contested Democratic Primary.

Simon has been approached by members of the community about running, and said he would be speaking with others to see how much interest there would be in a candidacy for mayor, according to the report.

Simon’s term expires in 2016, so he would have to decide between running for re-election and running for mayor.
