Princeton Grandparent Scammed Out Of $8K

Princeton Police are also looking for man wanted in connection with an attempted car burglary recently, according to the blotter.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Princeton grandparent was the victim of a scam recently.

A Harriet Drive resident said on Aug. 24 they got a call from someone claiming to be their grandson. The caller said they got into an accident and needed $8,000, police said

The victim sent the money and later believed the incident was a scam, police said.

On Aug. 19 at 9:45 a.m.: The victim reported an unknown person has been illegally dumping garbage in his dumpster outside of his business in the 800 block of State Road.

On Aug. 21 at 1:29 p.m.: As a result of a motor vehicle stop Brian Peters, 49, of Brick was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Peters was arrested and released on a complaint summons.

On Aug. 22 at 10:15 a.m.: The 100 block of Hickory Court resident reported he was scammed out of $1500 by an someone who had him pay for a fake service on Fastsupport.com in Target gift cards.

On Aug. 22 at 4:02 p.m.: A Princeton Kingston Road resident reported that on Aug. 17 at 3:39 a.m. someone tried to break into his vehicle parked in the driveway. Camera footage of the incident shows a man with a beard and bald head wearing a black sweatshirt attempting to open the driver side door unsuccessfully.

On Aug. 24 at 8:45 a.m.: A Moore Street resident reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight while parked in his driveway. The actor unlawfully removed a flashlight valued at$12.

On Aug. 24 at 5 p.m.: Julianna Andujar, 26, of Trenton was arrested and charged with theft and forgery for stealing $1,858 in cash and a check in the amount of $117 from a business on Nassau Street.

On Aug. 25 at 7:29 p.m.: The victim reported her locked bicycle was stolen overnight while secured to a sign on Palmer Square East. The bicycle was described as a black Trek FX1.

On Aug. 25: An East Stanworth Drive victim reported his bicycle was stolen from his front porch overnight. The bicycle was described as a black men’s Trek 21 speed with graye detailed lettering and a child seat attached.
