The Princeton High School football team continues to distance itself from the memory of last year.

Halfway through the season, the Princeton High School football team is No. 2 in the Central Jersey Group IV Power Points Standings posted on nj.com.

At 4-0, Princeton has 46 points, 10 points behind Brick Township (4-0, 56 points) and two points ahead of Freehold Borough (4-0, 44 points.

Power points are calculated based on the size of the schools a team has defeated, and the number of wins that team has.

Thus far, Princeton has defeated Hamilton West (Group 3, 0-3), Ewing (Group III, 2-2), Hightstown (Group IV, 2-2) and Lawrence (2-1, Group III).

The top eight teams in each group after the first eight games of the season qualify for the playoffs. Only a team’s seven best wins of their first eight games count toward qualifying for the playoffs.
