Princeton High School Students Can Opt-Out Of Gym Class As Part Of New Program
A total of 71 students are participating, and another 70 are awaiting approval, according to the Princeton Packet.

Princeton, NJ -- A total of 71 Princeton High School students have been cleared to participate in a program that allows them to opt-out of gym class, the Princeton Packet reports.
The district is also considering applications from another 70 students, according to the report.
The program was introduced this year in an effort to emphasize student wellness.

It allows students who play sports or participate in other strenuous physical activity to opt out of gym class in favor of a free period that would allow them to study or catch up on homework.
Those participating in the program must report to their gym teacher during their specified gym time before being permitted to go somewhere else within the school.

They receive a pass/fail grade for gym, based on their attendance for their team’s practices.
The program doesn’t apply to health class, according to the report.
