Princeton High School Students Involved In Sports May Get Gym Exemption

The policy is designed to emphasize student wellness.

Princeton, NJ -- In a continuing effort to emphasize student wellness, Princeton High School will allow students who play sports or participate in other strenuous physical activity to opt out of gym class in favor of a free period that would allow them to study or catch up on homework, the Princeton Packet reports.

Students have until Sept. 12 to apply for the exemption. They would have to report to their gym teacher during their specified gym time before being permitted to go somewhere else within the school.

They would receive a pass/fail grade for gym, based on their attendance for their team’s practices.
