Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert Will Not Seek Re-Election In November
Michelle Pirone Lambros and Mia Sacks were also sworn in as councilwomen during the Princeton Reorganization meeting.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert will not be running for re-election for her third term in November. Lempert made the announcement during the town's reorganization meeting.
"I believe it is healthy for government to change hands and officials to pass the baton," Lempert said at the meeting on Thursday. "Princeton is an extraordinary community with an abundance of thoughtful, talented, community-minded residents and I believe that our future is bright."
Lempert has served as mayor for two four-year terms going back as far as to when Princeton Township and Princeton Borough were consolidated.

She went on to note the accomplishments achieved by the town including: securing a recurring dividend from the consolidation, improving the police development, progress with open space, and restoring the Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood.

"This isn’t goodbye yet for me, the year is a long time and I look forward to a supercharged year with this energetic council," Lempert said.

Lempert also welcomed two new council members Michelle Pirone Lambros and Mia Sacks who were sworn in. She noted that she was happy to see two more women being added to the council during 2020 as it marks the 100th year of women’s suffrage.
Sacks and Lambros beat out Independent Adam Bierman for the two Princeton Council seats.
During the meeting, the council also unanimously elected David Cohn as council president.
