Princeton Moves To Increase Sewer Service Charges

PRINCETON, NJ — The Princeton Mayor and Council introduced an ordinance that would increase sewer service charges for property owners who receive metered water from New Jersey American Water or its successors.

The ordinance sets new annual rates based on water usage measured in hundreds of cubic feet, or CCF.

Under the proposed change, the rate for the first 2,000 CCF would rise from $8.80 to $9.68.

For usage between 2,001 and 5,000 CCF, the rate would increase from $11.90 to $13.09.

For usage in excess of 5,000 CCF, the rate would go from $16.00 to $18.24.

The ordinance applies to "each property owner receiving metered water from New Jersey American Water or its successors."

The final vote and public hearing on the ordinance will be held at the June 22 Council meeting.
