Ahead of Brennan’s appointment, the community had urged the BOE to consider public participation in the selection process.

The search was led by a committee of community members including BOE members, parents, educators, and administrators, the district said. “The Board is pleased to welcome Tiffany Brennan to Princeton. She was the unanimous choice of the interview committee and brings many years of knowledge and experience as a math teacher and math supervisor,” Board president Dafna Kendal said.

"We look forward to Ms. Brennan working with our students, parents, and teachers to further enhance the teaching of math in the District.”

Brennan earned a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics and a master of education in mathematics education from Rutgers University. She is expected to start this summer.

McCann has taught social studies at Princeton Middle School for 21 years. He has also coached numerous middle school and high school athletic teams over the years.

McCann is well known for his work with the Civics in Action program. The search to fill this position was led by a committee that included staff, administrators, and parents. More than 100 candidates applied for the position and McCann was the first choice by all committee members, the district said.

“Mr. McCann will be an excellent fit as assistant principal of Princeton Middle School. He is a solution-oriented educational leader who is extremely dedicated to the success of our students,” Kelley said

In his new position as assistant principal, McCann will focus on building relationships, developing a master schedule, and helping steer the middle school goals outlined in the strategic plan.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Princeton University and went on to complete his Juris Doctor degree at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

Earlier this year, McCann earned a master of school leadership from American College of Education. He will begin his new position on July 1. Families will be invited to meet McCann ahead of the school year. The district will release details of the meeting in the coming weeks.
