Princeton Schools Changes Make-Up Day After All Snow Days Used
After receiving feedback from the staff and commuity, Princeton Acting Superintendent announced a change to its planned make-up day.
PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Schools has changed its make-up snow day after receiving feedback from the community.
"The 2023-24 calendar is being revised again. We hope in a positive way," said Acting Superintendent Dr. Kathie Foster at the Tuesday Board of Education meeting. "Sometimes changing your mind means listening. And we listened well to staff concerns, parent concerns, families concerns about taking the Monday of the Spring Break away. So we really looked at our calendar high and low and searched."
Foster said the new make-up day will be on Primary Day, June 4.

While there are elections ongoing in the schools during that day, Foster said the district did research on the number of citizens who physically show up to vote.
"We feel with extra security and building monitors we can secure a place for polling as well as have school in session so that we can give back at least for now — and hopefully have a very mild rest of the winter — and give back that Monday of Spring Break to families," said Foster.

The make up day is being used since Princeton Schools has exhausted all three emergency/snow days and recently used a fourth day.
Board President Dafna Kendal also noted that the district is in discussions with Mayor Mark Freda to move voting out of the schools for safety reasons.
"We are hopeful that can be done," said Kendal.
