Princeton Schools, Courts, Bus Service Suspended Monday As Blizzard Slams NJ
A state of emergency is in effect as the winter storm threatens up to 20 inches of snow. Here's what Princeton residents need to know about:
PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Public Schools, municipal offices, Municipal Court and the Princeton Loop bus service will all be suspended Monday, as a major winter storm brings blizzard conditions to New Jersey.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill declared a state of emergency as the storm moved into the state, with 21 counties under a blizzard warning. The National Weather Service forecast 10 to 20 inches of snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday night into Monday morning. Wind gusts in coastal counties could reach 55 mph, with snowfall rates possibly exceeding 2 inches per hour.
All Municipal Offices will be closed, but the Council meeting scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. will still be held as planned, officials said.

Princeton Public Schools said a decision on Tuesday's schedule will be communicated by late afternoon Monday.
The Princeton Loop — both Local and Express routes — will be suspended.

Trash collection will be delayed one day for the entire week. Refuse originally scheduled for Monday will be collected Tuesday; Tuesday's pickup moves to Wednesday; Wednesday to Thursday; Thursday to Friday; and Friday to Saturday. All recycling collection is scheduled for Saturday. For updates on recycling services, residents can visit mcianj.org.
Warming centers will be open through Thursday, Feb. 26, for anyone seeking a safe, heated location. Most sites are closed Monday but open Tuesday through Thursday.
The Princeton Police Department lobby, 1 Valley Road, and the Rescue Mission of Trenton, 98 Carroll St., Trenton, are open around the clock through the storm period.
Warming center locations and hours are as follows:
- Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon St.: closed Monday; Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Center for Modern Aging, S. Patterson Building, 45 Stockton St.: closed Monday; Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Princeton Monument Hall, 1 Monument Drive, Small Meeting Room: closed Monday; Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Rescue Mission of Trenton, 98 Carroll St., Trenton: Sunday through Tuesday, 24 hours a day during Code Blue.
- Princeton Police Department Lobby, 1 Valley Road: Sunday through Thursday, 24 hours a day.
Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Officials advise dressing in layers, limiting time outdoors due to wind chill, taking frequent breaks while shoveling and checking on neighbors, particularly seniors and those who may need assistance.
