Princeton University Announces Expansion Plans
It intends to add a seventh residential college and 500 undergraduate students.

Princeton, NJ -- Princeton University is expanding in anticipation of future increases in student population, Planet Princeton reports.
The expansion includes a seventh residential college and the addition of 125 more undergraduate students per class, according to the report. The University expects a total of 500 additional undergraduate students.
A recent report said the expansion is possible, but would require resources from gifts, endowment and tuition, according to the report. Faculty members needed for the expansion are already in place in many departments and programs.

The cap on the endowment spending range was raised from 5.75 percent to 6.25 percent, according to the report.
The Board of Trustees also approved the reinstatement of a transfer program that hasn’t been in existence since 1990, according to the report.

The University currently has about 5,200 undergraduates, according to the Princeton Packet. Last year, it received a record 27,290 applications, and approved 1,908.
