Princeton University Football Team Builds Big Lead, Finishes Off Brown

The Tigers won, 27-16, one week after letting a 16-0 lead turn into a loss to Colgate.

The Princeton University football team didn’t let a three-possession lead slip away this week.

One week after letting a lead slip away against Colgate, the Tigers scored three times in the first quarter en route to a 27-16 win over Brown in the Ivy League home opener, according to espn.com.

Princeton jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 24-6 lead at halftime.

The Tigers went on to win one week after losing to Colgate by one-point after taking a 16-point lead.

Princeton improved to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in Ivy League play. Brown dropped to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in Ivy League play. The Tigers join Harvard (5-0, 2-0) and Dartmouth (4-1, 2-0) at the top of the conference standings.

Senior quarterback Connor Michelsen started in place of Quinn Epperly, according to The Daily Princetonian. He threw for 367 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior tailback Will Powers started in place of junior running back DiAndre Atwater, and ran for 69 yards and a 9-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Matt Costello caught two touchdown passes, including a 49-yarder in the first quarter and a 17-yarder in the second.

Nolan Bieck kicked a pair of 26-yard field goals.

Rohan Hylton led the defensive effort with nine tackles and 1.5 sacks, according to goprincetontigers.com. Matt Arends had eight tackles.
