Princeton Wrestler Advances in Region 5 Tournament
The tournament began Wednesday night and continues this weekend.

Princeton High School wrestler James Verbeyst kept his hopes alive for a regional title Wednesday night.
The fourth-seeded Verbeyst pinned No. 13 Shea Obado, of Spotswood, in one minute, 45 seconds during the pre-quarterfinal round of the Region 5 tournament at Hunterdon Central, according to nj.com.
Verbeyst will face No. 5 Jordan Cooke, of Piscataway, in the quarterfinal round on Friday. The semifinals and final are set for Saturday.

Verbeyst qualified for the regional tournament with a second-place finish in District 17. He lost to Hunterdon Central’s Kevin Ciresa, 5-1, in the district final. Ciresa is the No. 3 seed in the regional tournament. If two wrestlers meet in the regional tournament, it would be in the final.

Princeton freshman Alec Bobchin’s run came to an end in the pre-quarterfinal round of the 120-pound tournament, according to nj.com.
The ninth-seeded Bobchin fell to No. 8 Anthony Donnadio, of Hillsborough, 8-0. Bobchin qualified for the tournament with a second place finish in District 17.
