Proposal Would Call For Seasonal Rental Fees For Groups Using Princeton Athletic Fields

The proposal would help the town handle the overuse of fields and the wear-and-tear that comes with that.

Princeton, NJ -- Princeton’s Recreational Commission is set to vote on a proposed solution to the overuse of athletic fields in the town, and the wear-and-tear that comes with that overuse, the Princeton Packet reports.

The proposal calls for charging youth sports teams and other groups a nominal seasonal rental fee, based on the percentage of players who live in Princeton, according to the report.

The proposal calls for a $400 fee for teams in which 55 percent to 75 percent of players come from Princeton; $250 for 75 percent or more; and $125 for groups that use fields for five hours or less a week. The fees would be used to help cover some of the costs to maintain the fields.
