Shoplifting, Warrants Highlight Princeton Police Report

Princeton police release their activity report.

PRINCETON, NJ — The following information was provided by the Princeton Police Department. All incidents are merely accusations. Those accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.

On July 22, John Knutsen, 65, of Princeton, arrived at police headquarters and said he received a letter advising him there was an active warrant for his arrest in the amount of $186 out of the Princeton Municipal Court. Upon confirming the warrant, Knutsen was taken into custody, processed and released upon posting bail.

Chetan Gandhi, 46, of Summit, was found to have an active warrant out of Princeton Municipal Court for $114 following a random license plate inquiry and subsequent traffic stop on the 100 block of Hulfish Street at 9:08 p.m. on July 24. Gandhi was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and released on his own recognizance by the court.

Ariel Malberg, 27, of Princeton, was arrested and charged with shoplifting from McCaffrey’s Supermarket on the 300 block of North Harrison Street at about 4:34 p.m. on July 24. Police say Malberg hid $52.70 in assorted goods in her backpack and walked out of the store without paying for them. The supermarket’s management reported the theft, and arriving officers arrested Malberg and took her to police headquarters. She was processed, issued a complaint summons with a pending court date and released.
