Spaghetti Dinner Unites Princeton Academy Community

The Princeton Academy lunchroom turned into a Mardi Gras party on March 4 when more than 100 people came together to celebrate Fat Tuesday over a hearty pasta meal.

The Princeton Academy Parent Association (PAPA) hosted its third annual Spaghetti Dinner on March 4, which brought out about 140 members of the Academy’s school community. Students, parents, teachers and staff alike took some time that afternoon to sit down and enjoy each other’s company while sharing a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, salad and dessert.

“PAPA loves doing events like these where we can bring our school community together and have a good time,” said Elizabeth Seruma, the president of PAPA. “These events give parents a chance to socialize with each other as well as meet and welcome new parents and families into the school.”

The Spaghetti Dinners not only serve to give back to the school’s community, but the community at large. Each year PAPA accepts voluntary donations, which go toward a selected charity.  This year, attendees helped raise $909 that will go toward helping a sister Sacred Heart School in Uganda.

Seruma said these donations would cover the students’ cost for well more than a year.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for PASH families to come together to enjoy a delicious meal and more importantly, each other's company,” added Seruma. “In the midst of having fun, it is also nice that we can raise money for a charity.”
