Sometimes a little spring cleaning can help make a big difference.
That’s what the Princeton Academy Parent Association (PAPA) demonstrated when it raised nearly $7,000 with its semiannual spring rummage sale on April 5.
Families, friends, alumni and students pitched in to help sort, arrange and sell tables of gently used donated items ranging from matchbox racecars to entire living room sets. About 500 shoppers came out to peruse the items and by the time the dust settled, PAPA had raised $6,903.

“We truly appreciate how the PASH community came together to pull this event off. People donated their time, items and baked good which all contributed to the success of the event,” said Elizabeth Seruma, the president of PAPA.
This event brought in more student and alum volunteers from Princeton Academy and its sister school, Stuart Country Day, than ever before. Plus, current and alumni parents, teachers and staff were able to mingle, spend time together and meet new friends while hunting for bargains.

“It is a wonderful community builder as it can bridge our past, current and hopefully future families as well as our Stuart sisters,” added Seruma.
For PAPA member Teresa Cunningham, her favorite memory of the spring rummage sale was how the volunteers were such a big help to the customers.
“And the amount of compliments received from the shoppers about our warm and welcoming school and parent community, the positive behavior and class of our boys and the quality of our event each and every time,” added Cunningham.
