Stolen Debit Card Used For Shopping Spree In Princeton: Police

Princeton police also announced several warrant arrests as part of this week's report.

PRINCETON, NJ — A man who lost his wallet on Nassau Street or Washington Road said told police the person who found went shopping using his credit card.

He said he lost the wallet sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on July 18. Soon after, there was an unauthorized charge of $49.50 to his debit card. He said the total value of his loss was $134.59.

This incident was included as part of the Princeton Police Department’s weekly report that was posted on the town’s website on Tuesday. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. Here are the details of the other incidents:

Joseph Ametam, 33, of Lawrenceville, was found to have a suspended driver's license and an active warrant out of South Brunswick Municipal Court in the amount of $250 following a traffic stop for an improper turn on Mercer Street on July 24. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued two motor vehicle summonses with pending court dates and released on his own recognizance by South Brunswick Municipal Court.

John Morris, 51, of Trenton, was arrested on a $500 outstanding warrant out of Montgomery Township Municipal Court after he was stopped for failure to keep right and a random plate inquiry on Mercer Road on July 18. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued a summons with a pending court date and turned over to Montgomery police.

Xavier Torres, 25, of Union City, was arrested on an active warrant out of Union City Municipal Court in the amount of $58 following a traffic stop for failure to wear a seatbelt on Prospect Avenue on July 16. Torres was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued a motor vehicle summons with a pending court date and released upon posting his bail.
