Police Investigate Attempted Child Luring In Princeton

A man asked a 10-year-old girl if she was OK and where she was going before driving away, police said on Thursday.

PRINCETON, NJ — Police are investigating an incident in which a man approached a 10-year-old girl as she walked home from a friend’s house in Princeton Wednesday evening.

The girl told police she was heading home from her friend’s house on Prospect Avenue at about 5 p.m. when she noticed a red sedan or coupe. She described it as a “Mazda type car” with a “stock looking spoiler” on the back, and said it was driving south on Riverside Drive East.

After it passed her, she said the car turned around and came north on Riverside Drive East before turning left onto Prospect Avenue. It then stopped near her.

The driver asked the girl, “Are you OK? Do you need a ride?,” and the girl said she was fine. The driver asked where she was going, and the girl said, “home” and kept walking, police said. The car then made a u-turn and drove down the opposite side of Prospect Avenue before turning back onto Riverside Drive.

The driver is described as a Caucasian man between 40 and 50 years old with thinning, light brown hair. He was wearing a yellow shirt.

Princeton police have added more patrols in the area and are investigating the incident. Police have also informed New Jersey State Police C.A.L.L.S (Child Attempted Luring Linkage System) about this incident.
