Team USA To Wear NJ-Made Parkas At Winter Olympics Opening

NEW JERSEY — Clifton-based manufacturer Better Team USA has been selected by Ralph Lauren to assemble and manufacture the Opening Ceremony parka for the 2022 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams

Gov. Phil Murphy applauded this move and said he was proud that athletes will be outfitted in products made in the Garden State.

“The opening ceremony of any Olympic and Paralympic Games attracts tens of millions of viewers in the United States and even more worldwide,” Murphy said. “I am proud that when fans of the Games across the world tune into the Opening Ceremonies of the 2022 Games, they will be seeing Team USA athletes outfitted in Ralph Lauren parkas manufactured right here in New Jersey by Better Team USA.”

A luxury outerwear manufacturing facility, Better Team USA has been in business for over 40 years and is a longtime partner of Ralph Lauren, including producing garments for past U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams.

“We have been a longtime manufacturing partner of Ralph Lauren’s and are once again so proud to have played a part in producing high quality apparel that will be worn on the world’s stage - right here in the United States,” Martin DiBattista, Owner, Better Team USA said in a statement.

In 2019, Ralph Lauren opened a new corporate office in Nutley, with the addition of 225 jobs, supported by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

The 223-member U.S. Olympic Team will compete at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. The Opening Ceremony will take place Friday, Feb. 4, with competition beginning Feb. 2 and concluding Sunday, Feb. 20.

The Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 opens on March 4. The team to represent USA will be announced Feb. 19.
