Teen Dies After Falling 45 Feet From Mercer County Hindu Temple: Cops

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ — A Pennsylvania teenager is dead after falling 45 feet from a Hindu temple while volunteering there on Thursday, according to police.

The 15-year-old victim, a native of Hatfield, Pa., was volunteering on a construction project at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir campus in Robbinsville when he fell.

The incident occurred at around 3:50 p.m. The teen was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton, but he was pronounced dead at 4:44 p.m., police said.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir campus is located just off of Main Street, west of Route 130, in the Windsor section of Robbinsville.

The incident is not believed to be suspicious in nature, but is presently under investigation by police.

"All indications are that it was a tragic accident," Robbinsville Police said in a statement Friday.

When the construction of the temple's mandir, one of the most significant parts of the complex, was completed in 2014, the complex was estimated to be the biggest and most expensive Hindu temple in the United States by the Times of India.

The boy's identity has not yet been released.
