Theft by Deception, DUI: Princeton Police Blotter

A resident lost $6,123 after her iPad froze and a pop-up window advised her to purchase gift cards and send payments, police said.

PRINCETON, NJ — On July 17, at 8:21 p.m. an Amazon package valued at $284.99 was stolen from the front of a store located on Nassau Street, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On July 15, a Wheatsheaf Lane resident told police that her Apple iPad froze and a pop-up window advised her to contact "Apple Service" to repair it. After calling the number, the woman was instructed to purchase Target gift cards and send several Zelle payments to an unknown actor. As a result, she lost $6,123, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On July 23, just before 8:30 p.m., someone entered a vehicle that was parked in a parking lot on Library Place, police said. The owner of the car reported that the center console was rummaged through but nothing was missing.

On July 23, around 12:19 a.m., a 28-year-old Princeton woman failed to obey a traffic control device, police said. The woman was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She was processed, charged and released to a sober adult, police said.
