Unlawful Use of Credit Cards, Simple Assault: Princeton Police Blotter

A resident told police that $2,145.99 worth of items was stolen from their car which was parked at a public park on Alexander Street.

PRINCETON, NJ – Princeton Police blotter dated May 30, had the following reports:

On May 22, at 4:06 p.m., Princeton police received a report that an unknown individual entered a vehicle parked on Mountain Avenue and stole a man’s debit/credit card as well as U.S. Currency. Several fraudulent purchases were attempted at a retail establishment in another jurisdiction, however the purchases were declined. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On May 25, at 12 p.m., a woman reported that the window of her vehicle was shattered while it was parked at a public park on Alexander Street. The woman’s backpack and wallet were stolen from the vehicle; however, no fraudulent purchases were made utilizing their debit/credit cards. The approximate value of the stolen items is $160. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On May 26 at 9:18 p.m. victims reported that they were approached and yelled at by a man in an aggressive manner while they were driving in their vehicle on Maple Street. Although no physical contact was made with the victims, the man was in possession of a knife which was observed by the victims. The 39-year-old man from Boynton Beach, FL was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, simple assault and harassment.

On May 26, at 1:03 a.m. A Princeton Police Officer observed a vehicle on State Road with no registration. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect vehicle fled south on State Road at a high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue the vehicle and the surrounding jurisdictions were notified, authorities said.

May 27, 2:03 p.m., subsequent to a call from a retail establishment on North Harrison Street for a shoplifting that had just occurred, a 33-year-old Princeton resident was found nearby and placed under arrest after the officer’s investigation revealed that he had shoplifted $115.96 in merchandise, police said. The man was taken to PPD headquarters where he was processed, charged and released.

On May 28 at 08:20 p.m., a victim reported that an unknown person broke a window on their vehicle while it was parked at a public park on Alexander Street and stole $2,145.99 worth of items from the vehicle. Additional fraudulent purchases were attempted at a retail establishment in another jurisdiction. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
