Update on National Immigration Legislation in Princeton May 18

An update on the DAPA and DACA for youth acts will be given at the library Monday night.

The Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA)and the expanded DACA for youth acts have been put on hold after a federal district court in Texas temporarily blocked their implementation on Feb. 16.

Under the acts, announced by President Barack Obama on Nov. 20, 2014, parents of U.S.-born children or lawful permanent residents, who entered the country on or before Jan. 1, 2010, have no criminal record, and have resided continuously in America, will be protected against removal and receive work authorization for three years.

Legislation is on hold until a court issues an order that allows these initiatives to go forward.
