U.S. News and World Report Names Princeton Nation's Top University

It made the top of the list for the second year in a row.

U.S News and World Report’s high regard for Princeton University continues.

Princeton was named the top University in the country in the U.S. News and World Report’s ranking of the nation’s top colleges for 2015.

It is the second consecutive year Princeton has earned that distinction.

The report lists Princeton’s tuition and fees for this year at $41,820 with an enrollment of 5,323. It also lists Princeton as the first to offer grants instead of loans to students who need financial help.

U.S. News and World Report categorizes the institutions based on their mission, giving the highest regard to those in the Carnegie classification, which is used extensively by higher education researchers.

Once divided, the schools are ranked on 16 academic indicators.

The top three schools on the list (Princeton, Harvard and Yale) are Ivy League institutions, while Columbia tied for fourth with Stanford University and the University of Chicago.

All eight Ivy League schools made the top 16, and five colleges in New Jersey made the top 150.
