Vote-By-Mail Ballots Still Being Counted In Mercer County

All ballots postmarked before Nov.2 will be counted until Nov. 8, officials said

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County is still receiving and tallying vote-by-mails, leaving the outcome of many Election Night races still in question.

“Vote-by-mails that have been received have been tallied, but we will still be receiving/counting until November 8,” officials from Mercer County Clerk’s office said.

“Results are still being counted, as long as your vote-by-mail was postmarked before November 2, they will be counted until November 8.”

The total number of outstanding ballots remains unknown. These ballots will not only impact local and county races, but also the tight gubernatorial contest and state legislative races that involve Mercer County districts.

New Jersey’s 16th district, which includes Princeton, saw a tight battle between the Democrats and Republicans.

On Tuesday night with 81 percent precincts reporting, Democrat Andrew Zwicker of South Brunswick was leading the race against opponent Michael Pappas (R). Read More Here: Zwicker, Freiman, Jaffer Lead In NJ 16th District: Election 2021

In the assembly race, incumbent Roy Freiman, and newcomer Sadaf Jaffer were leading the race. But with more votes coming in overnight, Pappas, and assembly candidates Vincent T. Panico and Joseph A. Lukac III took the lead. Read More Here: Pappas, Panico, Lukac Take Lead In NJ 16: Election 2021

However, on Thursday morning, the Democrats were back in the lead, as more votes continue to be counted. The margins remain razor-thin in this district.

Meanwhile, all incumbents in NJ 15th district, which includes Lawrenceville, West Windsor, Hopewell, and Pennington, have won their respective races, the Associated Press said.

All results will be certified on Nov. 15, the County Clerk’s office said.
