DelVecchio told the officer he had five “Redd’s Apple Ales” at the Playhouse Lounge, a strip club in Burlington City, after arriving at the establishment at 7:30 p.m. The traffic stop was around 1:10, both the officer and the mayor said on the video.
The video of the Nov. 9 arrest was obtained by The Times of Trenton through an Open Public Records Act request. DelVecchio has since had the drunken driving charge dropped, pleading guilty to charges of reckless driving and failing to maintain a lane of travel.

In a statement, DelVecchio said he holds the officers “in the highest regard, as they acted with the same integrity and professionalism that I ask of the Lambertville police.” He said he did not receive any preferential treatment.
In the video, the officer asks the mayor to step out of the vehicle want to run a few tests. “You OK?” the officer asks.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” DelVecchio said.
The mayor goes on to plead his case, saying: ”Officer, I’m really OK to drive. I’m really - I swear to God.”
DelVecchio then says he has a back problem from rugby, and that’s why he would probably struggle to perform balance tests.
