YWCA Princeton, Arm In Arm Join Hands To Host Mobile Food Pantry

PRINCETON, NJ —The coronavirus pandemic has only exacerbated poverty and food insecurity. Several Mercer County families still find themselves struggling to put food on the table, due to job loss and other COVID-19 related factors.

To help area residents fight food insecurity, YWCA Princeton and Arm In Arm will host a mobile food pantry on Saturday, at the YWCA parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Prepackaged food bags will be given on first come, first served basis.

Representatives from YWCA will also be providing brochures and additional information of available resources like English as a second language courses, resources for women with breast cancer, and families in need of childcare.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Arm In Arm to provide access to essential groceries and combat food insecurity in our community,” said Tay Walker, CEO YWCA Princeton.

For nearly four decades Trenton-based Arm In Arm has been providing essential resources to Mercer County families.

Formerly known as The Crisis Ministry, Arm In Arm was founded by leaders of Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church in Princeton to help community members struggling financially.

“Working together with partners in our community for the benefit of our neighbors in-need is an essential component of Arm In Arm’s mission,” said David R. Fox, Arm In Arm Executive Director. “Especially during these challenging times, these collaborative partnerships are essential.”

The food distribution on Saturday will take place outside. Masks are mandatory for all volunteers, staff, and community members.
