YWCA Princeton To Host 17th Annual ETS Firecracker 5K June 1-15

PRINCETON, NJ —YWCA Princeton will be hosting the 17th annual ETS Firecracker 5K from June 1 – 15. Held in collaboration with Educational Testing Service (ETS), all proceeds from the 5k support YWCA Princeton’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, as well as its programs and resources for Mercer County women and families.

The 5K will be held virtually across a two-week period where walkers, runners, and rollers may participate at their own pace. Social and corporate teams are also welcome.

The ETS Firecracker 5K was first created to support YWCA Princeton’s Bilingual Nursery School. Today, the event provides broad support to the organization's programs.

“ETS has been an integral community partner of ours since the 1960s, when they helped us establish the Pearl Bates Scholarship Fund to honor the legacy of Pearl Bates, an ETS staff member and dedicated YW volunteer,” YWCA Princeton CEO Tay Walker said in a statement. “For decades now, we’ve worked together to promote equity and create opportunity through education, and we’re fortunate to have their continued support through this annual event.”

“We are excited to continue our longstanding partnership with the YWCA,” said Jamal Watson, senior director of the Center for Advocacy and Philanthropy at ETS. “We are excited to once again support the Firecracker 5K which will support women and families across the Mercer County region.”

Registration is open, with a fee of $50. Registrants are also asked to help fundraise. Participants will be able to pick up event t-shirts at YWCA Princeton, and awards will be given to the runners with the fastest pace, furthest distance, as well as top fundraiser for individuals and teams.
