The 12 Days of Science at Liberty Science Center

Visit Liberty Science Center this holiday season and enjoy various family-friendly science activities that range from meeting a live penguin to tasting ice cream made with liquid nitrogen.

1. What are the best ages for the event? Ages 2-adult.

2. What happens at the 12 Days of Science festival? Families enjoy fun, winter-themed holiday experiences like meeting a live penguin and other animals right out in the open, making “faux snow,” building huge snowflake sculptures, meeting Dora the Explorer in person, and much more. Activities change daily and most are free with admission. Check LSC.org for dates and hours.

3. Are the holiday activities interactive? Yes, and of course there are also tons of things to see and do in our exhibition galleries. Don’t miss the BASF Kids’ Lab: Colorful Polymers (free with admission, limited space, sign up upon arrival at LSC).

4. What are some of the more unique features? We love meeting the live penguin and seeing “The Polar Express” in the nation’s largest IMAX Dome Theater.

5. What will parents like best? Holidays give families time to slow down and enjoy exploring together. They will find something for all ages including the newly re-designed young learner gallery featuring a giant “Lite-Brite” wall and a two story, air-powered ball maze. The soft colorful balls pop out at the top for kids to catch. If you haven’t been here in a while, you’ll be amazed by the 35-foot high suspended climbing gym that lets guests burn off post-holiday steam as they navigate through the structure.

6. How long and when is the 12 Days of Science festival open? Special programming and activities run daily December 21-February 3 (closed December 25).

7. How long should we allow to enjoy the 12 Days of Science? Depending upon the age of the children, most visits last 3-4 hours.
