The 2017 EWG Sunscreen Guide
This is the 11th edition of the Sunscreen Guide from the Environmental Working Group (EWG)

Since the EWG published its first Sunscreen Guide, many sun protection products sold in the U.S. are safer than they were 11 years ago. Federal regulators have cracked down on some of the most unsubstantiated marketing claims. But still in 2017, EWG's investigations have found serious concerns remaining with more than 880 beach and sport sunscreens, 480 moisturizers and 120 lip products.
Almost 75% of the products that were examined provide inferior sun protection or contain worrisome ingredients, such as; oxybenzone, a hormone disruptor, or retinyl palmitate, a form of vitamin A that may harm skin.
Despite scant substantiating evidence, government regulators still allow most sunscreens to claim they help prevent skin cancer.
