B Vitamins, Brain Health & Combating Dementia
Having a sufficient intake of B vitamins, has the potential to help to prevent and/or treat cognitive dysfunction and dementia.

Coconut oil and other healthy fats have caused a lot of buzz in the media, pertaining to proper brain function and the prevention and treatment of several forms of dementia.
A recent Korean study concluded that giving a multivitamin supplement to seniors suffering from mild cognitive impairment and depression, helped to increased their cognitive function and decrease levels of depression.
This study also showed that serum homocysteine levels decreased with the multivitamin supplement. High homocysteine is associated with brain atrophy, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Vitamins B6, B9 and B12 help to convert homocysteine into methionine, which is a building block for proteins.
