Landscape Lights can create resort-like outdoor living spaces in any home. A well-designed exterior landscape lighting system can also increase the value of a home. In this blog we present Part Two of our Top 10 Favorite Landscape Lighting Techniques:

• Down lighting stones with deck lights can accent a stone wall and splash light through the landscaping. Low voltage outdoor lighting requires wires to connect the fixture to a low voltage transformer. This makes the installation of fixtures mounted on stones difficult, but the effect is worth it.

• Chimneys usually have architectural details that create a nice balance of shadow and light. Also the contrast in between the chimney and the black sky makes the chimney really stand out. Well lights installed on the ground level illuminated with spot lights are used to light those hard to reach places.

• Up lighting brick or stone walls create great visual drama. The texture of the brick or stone creates a rich contrast of high lights and shadows.

• Mature huge trees can be illuminated with bullet lights equipped with LED bulbs. The light from the LED bulb projects high into the canopy of the tress. Majesty…pretty much says it all.

• A properly placed landscape light under a river birch creates the number one favorite outdoor lighting technique. River birches are great to light because their textured bark makes a beautiful contrast when lit. Also their branches are very fine with delicate leaves. It is truly magic to see how many shades of green there are.
