Burning Odor Investigated At Tisdale School Monday

The fire department and Ramsey Rescue Squad were at the school investigating, police said.

RAMSEY, NJ — Fire and rescue personnel were at Wesley D. Tisdale School Monday morning on a report an "odor of something burning," police said.

Authorities urged parents to use caution when dropping off their children at the school.

Police sent the first warning about the odor at about 8:15 a.m.

Another warning was sent about 20 minutes later saying the fire department deemed the building safe for students and staff.

A faulty ballast in a fluorescent light was the cause of the odor, Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.
