Nominations Open for Three Board of Ed Seats

Ramsey's school board election will be this April

Three board of education seats – currently held by Carrie Williams, Timothy Finnegan, and Claudia Monteith – will be up for election this April.

The school district announced in a release this week that nominations are now open for anyone wishing to run for a seat on the board. The three available positions are for three-year terms.

District reps said they are unsure whether or not any of the current members will be seeking reelection.

Interested Ramsey residents can now pick up nominating petitions in the Assistant Superintendent’s office. Petitions must be filed there by 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25.

In order to run, potential candidates must:

  • Be registered voters in the district
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a US citizen
  • Have lived in the school district for at least one year
  • Be able to read and write
  • Have no contracts with or claims against the district
  • Not have any disqualifications as a voter under State Law NJSA 19:4-1

The school board election will be Tuesday, April 16. Residents will also vote on the 2013-14 school budget that day.
