Bees Attacks Beekeeper, Swarm Neighborhood: Police

Ramsey police and the borough's Office of Emergency Management issued warnings about the incident Saturday.

RAMSEY, NJ — Police warned residents in part of the borough to stay indoors and shut their windows Saturday after a swarm of bees attacked a man trying to maintain a bee colony at his home, officials said.

The man and his wife were each stung several times and sent to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Police Chief Bryan Gurney told NorthJersey.com. Gurney did not respond to an email for comment Saturday afternoon.

The Ramsey Office of Emergency Management issued an alert about the incident on its Facebook page.

Police issued two warnings about the incident on their Nixle page. The first alert, at 1 p.m. stated that residents in the area of Martis Avenue should stay indoors.

The second alert was issued at 5:17 p.m.; residents near Martis and Elizabeth avenues were warned to stay indoors and keep their windows closed until dawn Sunday.
