Ramsey Rescue & Ramsey Ambulance Drill at Ramsey Municipal Pool

Ramsey Rescue Squad and the Ramsey Ambulance Corp. analyzed potential rescue scenarios at Ramsey Municipal Pool.

Every emergency service organization in the country can be confronted with a water rescue or water-related emergency. The real question is your local emergency service department prepared to handle it? And, the answer is YES! On July 24, 2014 the Ramsey Rescue Squad and the Ramsey Ambulance Corp. held a training drill at the Ramsey Municipal Pool.

The drill started with a tour of the pool facility guided by one of the pool managers. The purpose of the tour was to familiarize both organizations with the pool pump house, which houses the pools chemicals and safety shut-offs, and the emergency entrances to the pool grounds. After the tour, the life guards showed both organizations what their procedures are in rescuing an injured party from the pool, and how to hand-off the injured party to the trained emergency service professionals on-scene. Afterwards, members of both organizations “jumped right in” to start practicing these procedures themselves in three teams of five people.

Both Ramsey Rescue Squad and the Ramsey Ambulance Corp. analyzed potential rescue scenarios, and worked together on how they would work as a team to address these scenarios if they were to arise in the future. The Ramsey Rescue Squad and Ramsey Ambulance Corp. benefited greatly from this opportunity to practice their water rescue skills and would like to thank the Ramsey Municipal Pool and their staff for their assistance.
