Residents Continue Their Outspoken Opposition To Ramsey Gun Range

Residents will keep speaking out against the Spring Street gun range at public meetings.

RAMSEY, N.J. — Residents dedicated to the denial of the Screaming Eagle Gun Club will continue to speak out against the application at a council meeting tonight.

Residents recently stood outside Ramsey Borough Hall holding signs that said "no gun range in Ramsey."

Peter Cuttone, a Pennsylvania resident, has never owned or managed a gun range, opponents claim.

The 60,000-square-foot facility will have 67 firing stalls, a retail gun shop and a restaurant. Members of the public, club members and law enforcement personnel, including domestic and foreign military members, will be able to use different areas of the range.

Cuttone wants foreign military personnel to use the state-of-the-art facility as there is only just one other such facility in the area, in Long Island, available to use.

Two safety officers will oversee the range when open. People need to take a 10-hour course and get a 90 or more on a test to become an officer.

The council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
