UPDATE: Bergen County Residents Report Flooding On Highways, Detours, And Downed Trees

A thunderstorm brought flash flooding throughout Bergen County Sunday afternoon into the evening.

There was minor flooding in Ridgewood on Route 17 near Linwood Avenue Sunday afternoon.

A flash flood warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.

Emerson resident Liz Clayton said it took her two hours to get home from ShopRite. She had to navigate a flooded parking lot.

Flash flooding was expected Sunday night as thunderstorms blanketed the area. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 11:45 p.m. Sunday night.

The National Weather Service’s flood hydrograph showed that the Saddle River in Ridgewood was expected to crest at slightly more than one-and-a-half feet. Flood stage for the river is five feet.
