Thomas L. Ryan, 27, was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train Thursday.

The close friends of a borough man who was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train last week have started a campaign to raise money for his 5-year-old son.

“Tommy was a beloved friend to dozens, a dependable brother, a cherished son, and an outstanding father to Jack,” said Mark Scattene, creator of the GoFundMe page said. “As friends of Tommy’s, we look to repay him for all the countless laughs and good times by helping secure Jack’s future.”

Thirty-six people have donated $3,700 to the fund since it went live Sunday night. The goal is to raise $25,000.
