Tuesday Is Last Day To Register To Vote On Ramsey Referendum

The $42.9M bond will fund major renovations to the district's schools. It includes $5.8M for all-day kindergarten.

RAMSEY, NJ — Tuesday is the last day to register to vote for the school district's $49.2 million renovations bond referendum Dec. 11.

Of the $49.2 million, taxpayers would be responsible for $32.5 million. The remaining $10.4 million will be in debt service to the state. The funding includes $5.8 million to renovate two elementary schools, Tisdale and Hubbard, in order to bring all-day kindergarten to the district.

The proposal also would install visitor vestibules at Tisdale, Hubbard, Dater, and Smith schools. Video cameras linked to the Ramsey Police Department, upgraded door locks, and safety film on first floor windows would be installed as part of a comprehensive security upgrades covered under the plan.

A second referendum question is scheduled to go to voters in November 2019 to approve funding for the full-day kindergarten program. Ramsey is the only Bergen County school district with half-day kindergarten.

There will be an information session on the referendum from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Ramsey High School.
