Upper Saddle River Resident Bruce Markowitz Appointed to NJ Sharing Network Board of Trustees
Local organ and tissue donation non profit recently made strategic appointments to its Board of Trustees
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – NJ Sharing Network recently made strategic appointments to its Board of Trustees to further fulfill the organization’s mission of saving lives through organ and tissue donation. Bruce J. Markowitz, who has been President and Chief Executive Officer of HackensackUMC Palisades for over 20 years, now joins the NJ Sharing Network Board of Trustees.
Markowitz has had a lengthy and distinguished career in the healthcare industry. Prior to serving in his present position with HackensackUMC Palisades, he served as AVP, VP of Operations, and President and CEO of Park City Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Markowitz was also Assistant Administrator of Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury, CT and Administrative Resident at Cedars Medical Center, Miami, FL. In addition to his work with NJ Sharing Network, he is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Administrators and serves on various community and professional boards.
“Bruce brings senior-level thinking and will be an invaluable asset to our Board of Trustees,” said Joe Roth, President and CEO of NJ Sharing Network. “His professional work within the medical field lends to his talent and drive as a member of our Board.”

Markowitz earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Bridgeport School of Law, Master of Arts in Healthcare Administration from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Kean University.
To date, there are over 120,000 people waiting for a transplant and 22 die each day while waiting, but one organ donor can save eight lives and one tissue donor can restore health to over 75 people. In New Jersey, there are over 4,000 people on the waiting list – 407 in Bergen County alone - and one person dies every three days waiting.
