Jamie Oliver made chicken nuggets on his show Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Jamie removed the breasts, wings, thighs and legs and made the nuggets out of what was left, the chicken's carcass. He did this to show that chicken nuggets are not made from prime cuts of meat, but the waste that is usually discarded by the butcher. The shocking reality was that after he did this, the children still ate these low quality chicken nuggets willingly. You can see this segment by clicking the link provided.
Mississippi researchers purchased chicken nuggets from two national fast food chains. The chains were not disclosed, but I am fairly sure that one on them had to be McDonalds. They found out that the chicken nuggets that they microscopically examined, consisted of between 40% to 50% chicken meat. They also found along with the meat, a mixture of fat, cartilage, pieces of bone, blood vessels, nerves, skin linings and internal organ linings.
The chemical additives that were used were not analyzed in this study. If they did, the results may have been even more shocking. The Chicken McNugget has 38 ingredients. Just one chemical ingredient in the Chicken McNugget is THBQ. TBHQ is a form of butane. It can comprise no more than 0.02 percent of the oil in a nugget. Ingesting a single gram of TBHQ can cause nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation and collapse. Ingesting five grams of TBHQ can cause death.

The study was published in the September issue of the American Journal of Medicine.
They concluded that a chicken nugget is really a chicken by-product, which is high in calories, salt, sugar and fat . They added that is a very unhealthy choice. The ironic thing is that they taste great and kids love to eat them.
