Why I'm Proud to Support Brendan Gill For Congress: Letter To The Editor

The following is an unedited letter to the editor from Meghan Lynch:

I am writing this in my personal capacity.

Brendan Gill has been a friend of my family for a long time.

But, over the last several years, I’ve gotten to see up close a different side of him.

I’ve watched as he spent countless hours visiting numerous Morris County municipalities and meeting with elected officials and Municipal Chairs. He didn’t do this to try to win our votes - he did it to understand our county’s needs.

Starting in 2020, when he consulted on Randolph’s municipal race and assisted with debate prep, Brendan has been an ardent supporter and resource to many of our candidates and committees countywide.

In the ensuing 6 years, Brendan has met with almost every Municipal Chair in the district to understand their committee’s needs - something he himself is personally familiar with.

As Chair of the Montclair Democratic Committee, Brendan understands that party building starts with building coalitions, and he has offered guidance to so many of our committees on how to do just that.

He’s helped them grow and develop their groups and recruit candidates.

Many of us take the now-famous Montclair Dems semi-monthly training sessions.

Additionally, Brendan has met with almost every elected official in Morris County in advance of this race. I’ve spoken to multiple Council Members and Mayors who’ve walked him through their neighborhoods and their downtown areas, answering his questions about current federal grant funding, redevelopment plans, capital projects, and future town plans.

He has also spent time in our towns cultivating relationships with small business owners to understand their needs.

While Brendan has been a tremendously supportive and loyal friend to me, it is his dedication, fighting spirit, and coalition-building skills that set him apart from what is undoubtedly an extremely talented group of candidates.

On February 5th, I will proudly be casting my vote for Brendan Gill to be our next Representative for the 11th District, because we deserve a Congressman who understands our needs from top to bottom. We deserve a Congressman who knows what it takes to build coalitions. We deserve a Congressman who has a track record of putting in the work, not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary.

Brendan Gill will be that Congressman.
